In 2007, the New England Chapter of SIOR established a
Scholarship in memory of Robert W. Holmes. Bob Holmes was a past
Chapter President and a strong supporter of SIOR for many years.
He was a person of integrity and high ethical standards. He started the
R.W. Holmes Realty Company in 1976 serving the Metro West/495 Market.
Today the Company still thrives under the leadership of his son Garry
Holmes, SIOR. Garry followed in his father's footsteps and has been
actively involved in SIOR, and is a past Chapter President. Garry
is the Chairman of the Scholarship Committee and presides over the
selection of qualified candidates for the scholarship program.
The purpose of the scholarship is to provide up and
coming commercial real estate brokers that have been in the business for
a minimum of three years, with the opportunity to expand their education and knowledge of the industry by taking an SIOR
Professional Course, and attend an SIOR Conference.
The goal is to imake them aware of the many benefits that SIOR has to
offer, and encourage them to pursue the SIOR designation.
